This distinctive thumb bowl is crafted from pine and finished with soft oil. The piece originates directly from the artist's studio and features a rounded bottom. Novel Works Studio is very pleased with the outcome of this work, and it is now available for listing. Thumb bowls, also referred to as pinch bowls, are traditionally made from clay, making a wooden example particularly rare. This style has historical roots dating back to ancient times.

Interestingly, the creation of this bowl was serendipitous. During the turning process, a knot in the wood dislodged, prompting the artist to adapt the design accordingly. The result is an elegant and unique item that we are proud to present.

This oak bowl, made from cracked grain and featuring a decorative strip on the side, is deep, thick, and notably heavy. The bowl has been hand-oiled and is certified food safe, although it’s not recommended for use with liquids. Keys shown in the image help indicate its size. This bowl is the larger counterpart to the smaller dish, which is sold separately.
